I know it’s hard to believe, but the holidays are not just upon us, they are HERE, ya’ll. The majority of the events in today’s roundup are holiday-related, and this weekend kicks off Theater Huntsville’s production of “It’s A Wonderful Life”, as well as the spectacular Galaxy of Lights Walkthrough Nights at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens.

  1. Nutcracker-pa-looza

    Thursday at 4:30PM: Dancers from the Alabama Youth Ballet will perform excerpts of The Nutcracker: A Yuletide Ballet for patrons at the Main branch of the Huntsville Public Library. You and your family can get an up-close look at the costumes and the classic story for free!

  2. Host of Christmas Past in Fayetteville

    Friday-Sunday: Every year during the second weekend of November, the small town of Fayetteville comes alive with this holiday tradition. They offer free parking, great food, carriage rides, homemade snow, high tea, and nonstop entertainment. Since there’s so much going on, a complete schedule events for the weekend can be found HERE.

  3. Santa Arrives In the Rocket City

    Saturday: The Jolly Old Elf makes his annual debut at both Huntsville malls for two special events before settling into each for the holiday season. Madison Square Mall will host Santa at The Children’s Place at 9AM for a story time – each child that visits will receive a free gift. At 10AM there will be a festive cookies & milk Pajama Party with Santa, The Grinch, and Cindy Lou Who at Parkway Place Mall.

  4. Holiday Craft Expo

    Saturday, 10:00AM-5:00PM: Shop local! The North Alabama Crafters will host their 2nd Annual Holiday Craft Expo at Huntsville’s Historic Depot Roundhouse, free and open to the public. There will be over 40 different vendors of handmade goodies selling everything from baby clothes to jewelry to paintings to home decor! You can learn more about some of the artists and get a sneak peek of their wares before you go by checking out our interview.

  5. Outdoor Community Musical

    Saturday, 11:00AM – 4:00PM: Grab your lawn chairs for one last time this season, and head to the Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church for their 2012 Choir Weekend. This truly unique event includes music and singing from A&M Gospel Choir, Huntsville Drumline, and more. If you never experienced a southern gospel choir in full force, don’t miss your chance!
