We’ve been enjoying some wonderful weather over the past couple of weeks and if you’ve been cooped up indoors, I’m sure you’re dying to get out and enjoy the weekend. Even if it rains Saturday (and for the sake of my daughter’s birthday party, let’s hope it doesn’t), there is still plenty to do. Indoors our out, it’s going to be a fun weekend.
One of the great indoor events happening this weekend will be the North Alabama Crafters Expo at the Depot Roundhouse this Saturday from 10 AM – 5 PM. This group of local artisans and crafters just happens to be the focus of our very first Home Based Business feature. Check them out below and if you are interested in being listed in our directory, click here to find out more.
The North Alabama Crafters are a group of Etsian crafters who meet monthly to network and hold bi-annual craft shows. To support these local artisans and to keep up with the latest their members have to offer, follow them on Facebook, Twitter, or their blog.
All Weekend: Although Easter isn’t “technically” until next Sunday, the fun starts this weekend with the Peter Cottontail Express, Brunch with the Easter Bunny, Egg Hunts, Easter Egg Dying and more! Check out our Egg Hunts & More page under the Play and Learn section of the site for all the details.
Thursday, March 29: The fun starts at 10 AM and goes until 2 PM. As always, Bridge Street Buddies events are FREE but you must be signed up (with buddy card in hand) to enjoy most of the fun. You can pick up your card at the customer service kiosk between PF Chang’s and Cantina Laredo.
Friday, March 30: Shows are at 11 AM and 1 PM. This entertaining and educational program will delight the young and old alike. You’ll see and learn about some of the most amazing and majestic birds of prey. Witness many of the raptors taking flight and get a birds eye view of the animals close up! The cost for the show is $2 per person for members and for non-members along with Garden admission for non-members.
Saturday, March 31: From 9 AM – Noon on the CDS campus, take a trip around the world to experience 25+ countries! Meet people dressed in national clothes; see artifacts/pictures; participate in children’s crafts; experience a TaeKwonDo Demonstration, Irish dance, Filipino folk dance; and sample authentic foods from
different countries. There will be piñatas and door prizes (gift certificates from Ol’Heidelberg Café, Carrabbas, Papou’s Greek Restaurant & more!). Free and open to the public.
Friday-Saturday, March 30-31: The largest children’s consignment sale in the Tennessee Valley is wrapping up it’s spring sale but with over 1300 consigners, there are still plenty of clothes. Plus, everything not marked in red is 50% off the ticket price. If you’re looking for kids clothes, you’ll find some real bargains.
As always, click on the orange titles to visit the appropriate websites and check our CALENDAR for all the good stuff we couldn’t cram in our five picks. Finally, if you see something we don’t have here or on the Calendar, leave it in the comments and share with your fellow Rocket City Moms!
