UAH Charger Hockey

Friday & Saturday at 7:00 PM
Cost: FREE general admission

Cheer on the Chargers as they play against the Northern Michigan Wildcats! All general admission tickets are free thanks to the Huntsville International Airport. Saturday night the first 500 fans will receive a mini Saturn V rocket, courtesy of Huntsville’s most well-known attraction. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center will sponsor the mini rockets, a must-have for your office or home. More info here.

Go Fly a Kite!

Saturday from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

This free event is being organized by AshaKiran and the City of Huntsville along with over 30 co-sponsors to promote awareness, inclusiveness and to impact the total community. There will be over 60 booths participating as well as sales vendors and food vendors. In addition to kite flying, there will be children’s activities, entertainment and music for the whole family. Let’s Soar for Social Justice! Bring your own kite or purchase one at the event. Bring blankets or chairs to sit on. No pets. More info here.

SOAR at Wheeler Wildlife Refuge

The wild bird show at Wheeler Wildlife Refuge is always amazing – kids can get an up-close look at eagles, hawks, owls, and other magnificent birds. The two popular shows are followed by a Q&A and flying demonstrations. Call 256-350-6639 for more info or visit their website for more info.

LIT: Light + Innovation + Technology

Saturday from 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Cost: FREE
Downtown Huntsville, Central Bank Building next to Big Spring Park (map)

A first for Huntsville, this light show will make your family ooh and aah! Students from the UAHUntsville and other local light artists will illuminate the Courthouse Square with colorful, pulsing laser and LED lights timed to music. The first 200 guests even get a free glow stick! Arts Council Inc. is co-sponsoring the event with Downtown Huntsville Inc. and UAH’s College of Liberal Arts. More info here.

Free Day at HMA

Sunday from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Huntsville Museum of Art (map)

Join the Huntsville Museum of Art, local officials and others in celebrating the opening of YAM 2014: Exhibition for Youth Art Month. The exhibit will showcase nearly 200 exuberant works of art by local youth in kindergarten through grade 12. To help celebrate, the Museum is FREE all day Sunday.It’s a great time to check out the Stender Family Interactive Education Galleries that are perfect for families with younger children.
