Weekend Round Up July 12-15 (and a Giveaway!)
Thank goodness for every drop of rain this week – the Rocket City certainly needs it! Fortunately for you, there’s plenty to do this weekend indoors. We found LEGOS, magic, puppets, music, and more – and we’re even giving away passes below in an unprecedented Weekend Round Up giveaway, all thanks to our friends at The Huntsville Historic Depot.
Be sure to check out our Garage and Yard Sale page for a handy map of where all the sales are taking place, and be sure to look at our whole calendar of events so you don’t miss something important!

Puppets & Magic at the Library
Thursday Morning: Between the Animal Puppet Show at the Bailey Cove Library and the Magic Show with The Magical Mr.Krugh at the Showers Center Library, there are some great options for FREE Thursday morning fun. There will be two puppet shows, 9:15AM and 10:30AM at Bailey Cove. The magic show begins at 9:30AM at the Showers Center.
-
Preschool Playtime at Aldersgate
Friday from 9:30AM – 11:30AM: Every 2nd and 4th Friday Aldersgate on the Parkway hosts Preschool Playtime, a chance for little ones to get on the skate floor with their trikes, big wheels, and other toys with wheels, or they can play in the bouncy house. Of course no skating rink event would be complete without dance music and a disco ball to amp things up! A $5 donation is encouraged at the door.
-
Tennessee Valley LEGO Club Depot Show
Saturday from 9:00AM – 3:00PM: This club’s members are adult enthusiasts, and are hosting their annual show to the public this weekend at the Historic Huntsville Depot. A large LEGO town and train will be on display, as well as stand-alone creations, a theater room showing LEGO stop motion films, play brick for kids to enjoy, and door prize drawings. While this event is free to members of the Earlyworks Museum complex, non-member admission is $12 for adults, $10 for Youth/Seniors, and $5 for Toddlers. However, we’re giving one lucky RCM reader a family 4-pack of tickets to attend! To enter, scroll to the bottom of this post and follow the instructions in the box. (A winner will be randomly selected at noon on Friday.)
-
Free Day at Burritt & Folk Music Festival
Sunday from Noon – 5:00PM: Burritt on the Mountain will be open to the public free of charge. Enjoy some music from The Huntsville Traditional Music Association, a non-profit organization whose purpose and objective is to preserve and perpetuate traditional music, instruments, and styles of rendition. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, what is commonly referred to as folk, traditional, and old-time music. The HTMA will be playing in the gazebo from 1:00 to 4:00.
-
LoveFest at Lowe Mill
Sunday from 5:00PM – 9:30PM: Finish off your Sunday with a little love! Gates open at 4PM but the music doesn’t start until 5PM. Admission for children 13 and under is FREE and for those 14+ just $5 or a new backpack will get you in the door. This school supply drive offers you a lot for your donation, including Reggae music by Kush, Jazz Singer Myrna Clayton, Latin music, and kid’s activities.
