Valentine’s Day in Huntsville – Without Kids

We love our kids. We really do. We love the sticky kisses, the paper hearts, and the toddler cuddles.

But nothing puts a damper on a romantic evening more than celebrating Valentine’s Day with children in tow.

That’s why we’re presenting you with some options, hopefully in time to be proactive and form your Valentine’s Day plans now! Huntsville has a some great things happening to help you have a great night out with your BabyMamma, BabyDaddy, or Significant Other.

Parent’s Night Out

Lucky YOU! Several great places are hosting Parent’s Night Out on February 14th – kids have fun, you have fun – it’s a Win-Win situation! Our only advice would be to call NOW because they fill up fast.

Sci-Quest Hands On Science Center – Ages 4-15 years | Register Online
Time: 6:00 – 10:00 PM
Cost: $23 per child, $18 for each additional child. Sci-Quest Members receive a 10 percent discount

Ages 7-10: Heart to Heart Children will get their hearts pumping as they explore the circulatory system. Children will discover the major components of blood, learn how blood typing works, and even observe a real dissected sheep heart.
Ages 11+: I “Heart” Metal Art Children will learn about the physical and chemical properties of metals and get creative as they use this knowledge to make unique Valentine’s Day gifts for their friends and family.

The Little Gym of Huntsville Parentsʼ Survival Nights let you enjoy some adult time to see a movie, catch up with friends or enjoy a meal without—ahem—your pint-sized food critics in tow. Meanwhile, your children get some quality “kid time” in a safe, fun, familiar place with trained instructors who lead them through music, games, and fun LEGO® DUPLO® and LEGO® Juniors building activities.

Kid’s Night Out at the Southeast YMCA – Ages 4-12 | Register Online
Time: 6:00 – 10:00 PM

Pour Your Heart Out

OK, so your kids are at Parent’s Night Out or with a sitter. Now what?

The U.S. Space and Rocket Center is joining with Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark out of Birmingham on February 14th for a Valentine’s Day evening of science and art. Couples get to carve their own design into a 4-inch-square sand and resin mold. The Sloss metal sculptors fill the molds with molten iron from a 75-pound coke-fired furnace. HOW COOL IS THAT? The bad Juice will also be playing, there will be a cash bar, and you can see the “101 Inventions That Changed the World” with your Valentine.

DETAILS

Date & Time: Saturday, February 14 from 7:00 – 10:00 PM
Cost: $75 per couple (museum members $70)
Includes admission for two, a drink ticket each for beer or wine, heavy hors d’oeuvres, live music by the band Juice and two cast iron tiles as well as a cash bar.
