Spring Break in Huntsville for $8 or Less

So the kids are thrilled to be out of school and you want to do some special things with them in Huntsville during the school break. But you don’t want to spend a ton of money and you’re on the hunt for a Spring Break deal or two. We’re here to help!

We’ve tracked down some great things to consider, and even some special deals. Not to mention a whole calendar full of FREE things to do in Huntsville. Spring Break LEVEL UP!

FUN OUTDOORS

Hike Huntsville

It’s the perfect time to go on a Guided Spring Hike with the Land Trust of North Alabama! Their beautiful Wildflower Trail is in Blossomwood and one of my personal favorites. It’s difficulty level is Beginner and kids of all ages will really enjoy a frolic in the woods, splashing in the creek, and looking for birds and critters from the safety of the trail. Hikes are free, but donations are very much needed and appreciated. More great kid’s hiking trails can be found HERE if you want to strike out on your own, but we are partial to these 5 hikes for beginners.

Bridge Street Fun

Here’s a great option for a little springtime weekend fun. Head over to Bridge Street Town Center and ride the train ($3) & the carousel Friday through Sunday – ($2 per ride) and when you finish head over to the kids section of Barnes and Noble for some books. Just don’t blame us if you end up doing a bit of shopping and spend more than $8!

Burritt On the Mountain Pro-Tip

Both Burritt Museum and the Huntsville Botanical Gardens are fantastic places to be outdoors, and there’s tons to do for kids! Regular admission at Burritt is $12 for adults and $8 for kids but we have a secret for Spring Break…

Head to the Huntsville Madison County Visitor’s Center and pickup a Passport Coupon and you will save 20% on passes, making that kid’s admission $6.40 at Burritt! (Of course, if you’re a member at either place, admission is already free.)

Parks & Rec

Area parks are a great option for fun because they wear your little ones out, they are easy play dates when other children are present (and they will be during spring break), and they are completely FREE! Before you head out the door be sure to check out our Parks Guide filled with our favorite area parks. In the guide we dish on amenities including which parks have bathrooms, shade trees, benches, and the best play equipment for different ages.

Hays Nature Preserve

Nothing beats FREE Spring Break fun! Drop in to play on the natural playground anytime between 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. or check out one of their free nature activities. Their programs are open to children of all ages. You can also walk the trails and even do some fishing!

INDOOR OPTIONS

EarlyWorks Pro-Tip

We’ll let you in on another Spring Break secret… the Huntsville Madison County Visitor’s Center also has a Passport Coupon for EarlyWorks too! Regular admission is $12 for adults and $10 for youth, but with the coupon that youth admission drops to $8. Touch, climb, pull and explore away at Huntsville’s history museum for kids – they have a really cool exhibits going on right now.

Walk through Art

Get creative with your Spring Break with a walk through the Huntsville Museum of Art. Regular admission is $12 for adults and $5 for children 6-11, but with the Passport Coupon from the Huntsville Madison County Visitor’s Center, you can knock that children’s admission to $4. Check out their current exhibits here, and be sure to take some time to feed the ducks and go on the free scavenger hunt at Big Spring Park while you’re there!

Jump & Play

It’s called Restless Kids Syndrome and all mothers recognize the signs. First children get whiny, then items in your home begin to break for inexplicable reasons, slapping and hitting of siblings may occur. Avoid this serious dilemma with these hopping good options. All are great indoor play options and all are offering open play and discounts the next two weeks.

Matrix Gym – Whiz Kids open gym is another “oldie but goodie” in our RCM arsenal but worth revisiting when looking for options for your littlest ones. Read our review here. Whiz Kids is offered six days a week at various times. Check their website for exact times. Exclusively for children ages 6 and under it’s only $3 if you’re a member and $5 if you’re not.

Let’s Go to the Movies

If you feel like catching a flick there’s some great specials at a few local theaters.

$5-6 Ticket Tuesdays – CinePlanet in Madison and Cinemark at Bridge Street have discounted movie tickets on Tuesdays.

Behold the Bookshelves!

Whether you visit virtually or in person (our favorite) the Huntsville Madison County Public Library is guaranteed to have something that will keep your kids of all ages occupied and entertained. Check out lots of new books & movies for just the cost of your library card.
