Rocket City Food Blogger Tour 2015

The Huntsville Food Bloggers Tour happened this weekend, and Rocket City Mom was there! Foodie blogger from Huntsville, Nashville, and Memphis received a special sneak peek at some of the specials being served up for Huntsville Restaurant Week.

Now, granted, Rocket City Mom is NOT a food blog. But we do love to feature local restaurants that provide family-friendly fare in our Restaurant Reviews. Our mission was to find ways parents can enjoy Huntsville Restaurant Week with their kids, and we’ve labelled that mission a wild success. There is something for every palate, and we guarantee a yummy food adventure is waiting for you August 14-23.

We explored three distinct restaurants for you, and all are highly recommended.

LawLers Barbecue — and yes, the capitalization and lack of apostrophe are both correct — has become an integral part of a rich northern Alabama barbecue culture. Look. We take our slow-smoked porcine flesh seriously ‘round these parts. And LawLers nails it. The difference between soul-warming barbecue and just meat is significant, and LawLers understands the gustatory spirituality in the former. If you’re serious, this place is worth a dedicated trip.

Hildegard’s Biergarten offers a spiritual connection to Wernher von Braun, as well as northern Germanic rigor in its offerings. These are genuine family recipes brought to your plate, and the results are delectable. Whether with the numerous available sausages, the cabbage rolls, or schnitzel, you are primed for a marvelous excursion. Save room for dessert, all of which are lovingly prepared by the owner’s mother. (That sounds like a made-up detail, but it’s not.) You’ll be glad you did.

Grille 29 has firmly established itself as an outstanding evening destination, but has also built a reputation for an exemplary brunch. The shrimp and grits are an otherworldly experience. From brunch, prom, date night, or a marvelous post-church meal, Grille 29 deserves your serious consideration. The desserts are reason enough alone to pay them a visit – a chocolate peanut butter truffle, white chocolate strawberry cheesecake, and chocolate ganache sour cream cake with vanilla bean ice cream are only a sampling of their offerings.
