A quaint playground in the middle of a quiet neighborhood, Hastings Park is a great place for the littles. With equipment sized for small children surrounded by a paved path, this park is a hidden gem for little legs.

Location: 2801 Hastings Road SW, Huntsville, 35801 (map)

Amenities: Two (2) playground sets – one little kid (2-9 years) and one infant (18 months-3 years). Six swings – three regular and three infant. Benches, picnic table, green space, riding toys, sidewalk around playground, trash cans, dog waste disposal. NO BATHROOMS.

Tucked away in the medical district, this small community park is perfect for very young children (baby-age 4). The amenities include the requisite play set and ladybug/grasshopper combo that many parents with young children are familiar with, but this park has a lot more to offer which is what makes it one of our family’s favorite go-to parks.

Smaller playsets, fenced in green space and more can be found at Hastings.

Boasting two benches – both partially shaded!!! – that are located close to the action, this park is ideal for parents who want to give their newly walking, running explorer a safe place to experience a little freedom. There is one picnic table and a nice-sized open green space with lots of trees encircling it perfect for those first kicks of the soccer ball.

Basically, if you’re looking for a park that will let your tykes run free without running too far, this is perfect. Usually very quiet (we almost never see anyone there when we go on weekday mornings) it is not so secluded that it’s scary. Older siblings, provided they are age 10 or under, will still find something to occupy them as well. The sidewalk that circles the playground area is perfect for trikes and small push toys or sidewalk chalk masterpieces.
