Celebrate the Madison Street Festival

What started off as a neighborhood block party in 1980 has evolved into one of the biggest festivals in Alabama, and it’s taking place next Saturday, October 7th,  right here in Madison. The Madison Street Festival is celebrating its 41st year and promises to be bigger and better than ever!

We’ve put together an event guide below that will help your family not miss a moment of this annual event.

Morning Parade & Crowd Tips

If you have a choice, get to the event early and in time for the Parade at 8:30AM. It will take some time to park and find a good spot, but it’s well worth it. There’s free parking and shuttle at the city stadium off Hughes Road and at Crosspointe Church. Shuttle runs to downtown Madison from both locations, or feel free to walk to the festival grounds. Crowds at the festival are thinest in the morning and (porta-potties cleanest!) and get more dense as the day progresses!

New & Improved Children’s Area

Family festival-goers should note that there are a lot of children’s activities, and all of them are FREE! Animals of all sorts will be there for cuddles with the Tiny Hiney Travelin’ Farm. You can check out booths with the Huntsville Botanical Gardens, the Cook Museum, Burritt on the Mountain, and the US Space and Rocket Center. Don’t forget to swing by the Rocket City Mom booth and say hello to us!

Festival Food

The MSF is excited to bring you some of the best food in the South. From BBQ, pizza, gourmet Chinese, Greek, hot dogs, funnel cakes, ice cream – we’ve got your taste buds covered. Located on Main Street and throughout the festival, our vendors and food trucks will be cooking-up tasty treats for the whole family. We promise every tummy will leave happy!

Artist Alley

Artist Alley is a juried art event that celebrates and showcases some of Tennessee Valley’s and the surrounding area’s best artists. Stroll through an amazing display of high-quality, award-winning original works of art. Take time to talk with the artists and find that perfect work of art to take home.

Artist Alley is primarily focused on the fine arts. Artists who produce and sell works of art including but not limited to pottery, raku, photography, glass, woodworking, literature, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, metalsmith, metal jewelry, and leather are invited to submit their application to Artist Alley.

All artwork displayed in Artist Alley must be made by the artist.

This is a juried event with awarded prizes going to The Joyce & Dennis Vaughn Best in Show, Madison Street Festival Merit Award presented by Madison Art Alliance, and Madison Street Festival Committee Award.

Entertainment

Located on Church Street, the MSF is proud to showcase some of the best talent in the Tennessee Valley on the Entertainment Stage. Singers, dancers, musicians, and other performers – they’ve got it all, right here in downtown Madison. Be prepared to put your hands together, stomp your feet, or just sit back and hum along to your favorite songs. They’ve got something for the whole family!

Located on Main Street, there will also be the Community Showcase Stage at the Madison Street Festival features performing art groups and is a place where you can enjoy many types of entertainment. In the past, they’ve had martial arts, belly dancers, theater performers, dance teams, and the Madison City Community Orchestra!
