Meals to Bring Exhausted New Parents

new parents newborn baby

I don’t know about you guys, but I have so many pregnant friends right now! My social media feed is full of ultrasound pics, gender reveals and baby announcements. I absolutely love babies with my whole heart.  Especially the ones I can love on, spoil and send back home!

I have also noticed the popularity of the Take Them a Meal scheduling pages. I think that is just the best idea in the world. Friends can set up a personalized meal train for new parents that includes likes, dislikes, allergies, etc… AND you can look and see what other people are bringing so that everyone doesn’t bring them lasagna. Seriously, I bet 10-15 years ago, every covered dish taken over to a friend was a lasagna. Not that I would mind, though. I could eat lasagna every day! In fact, if I ever do have another kid, I personally am requesting a different lasagna every day! What? That noise? That was just my husband passing out…

Important things to remember when taking a meal is to take something that can be frozen, or reheats well. I would also recommend using the disposable aluminum foil pans because the last thing a new parent is going to want to do is scrub your casserole dish. If there were older siblings, I would take the time to find out what their favorite treat was and bring them a little something. It is so easy for the big brother or sister to get overlooked with a new baby in the house.

The most important things I can tell you – do not ring the doorbell. Do not go over expecting to visit. Don’t even call or anything else that could possibly awaken their sleeping angel. Just send a text letting them know you are dropping it off and leave it on the door step. You will be the BEST. FRIEND. EVER.

If you are expecting, and reading this, I HIGHLY suggest making up some freezer meals before your due date.  Because, eventually, the meal train will stop. Usually right around the time the colic begins…
