The following Egg Hunts are open to the public and while some may charge a small fee, many are free. We’ve also listed other Easter-related activities like the Peter Cottontail Express. Don’t miss the fun!

Bunny Bonanza 2011 at the Huntsville Botanical Garden

Athens Easter Egg Hunt

When: Saturday, March 16, from 10:00 – Noon
Where: Athens Courthouse Lawn
Cost: FREE

Come join us at the historic Courthouse on the lawn for an Easter Egg Hunt from 12 PM-1 PM! Photos with Easter Bunny will be taken from 10 AM -12 PM.

Redstone Easter Eggstravaganza

When: March 16 11 AM – 1 PM
Where: MWR Activity Field, Aerobee Road (behind the Community Activity Center)

Egg Hunt for Children on the Spectrum

When: March 17
Where: Barnes and Noble, Jones Valley

Bring your children on the spectrum, their siblings, and friends for a free Easter Egg hunt throughout the store. RSVP so they have enough eggs for the hunt. Call Maggie at 256-885-0501 and explain you are coming to Egg Hunt on March 17. Give your name, phone number, and how many kids you are bringing. If she is not there, leave a message with this info. When you are done, do some shopping at the Barnes & Noble Book Fair Benefiting Autism Society of Alabama. A percentage of all purchases made during that day will go to ASA IF YOU MENTION AUTISM SOCIETY OF ALABAMA at check out! This applies to books, movies, coffees, online purchases but not gift cards.

Fleet Feet Easter Egg Hunt

Come out with your family and friends to enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt at Fleet Feet Sports! All of the eggs will be filled with an assortment of candy, and one lucky winner will win a FREE pair of Brooks running shoes! There will be refreshments to follow, and all participant will get to take home a chocolate bunny!

Decatur Eggstravaganza

Egg and Meteorite Hunt at USSRC

When: March 23, 10AM – 1PM
Where: US Space & Rocket Center, Shuttle Park
Cost: $5 per child (Adults are FREE); Registration is required by March 19

Instead of attending another egg hunt this Easter, hunt for eggs and meteorites at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center! There are reports that meteorites have hit our Easter egg hunting ground and we need your help collecting them too! Bring a basket and help us find all the eggs and meteorites hidden at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Also, in case of an alien or bunny sighting, be sure to bring a camera to lure them from hiding!
Enjoy the festive egg and meteorite hunt, hands-on activities, music and a moon bounce. Prizes will be given in each of the three age categories and there will be candy for all!

Egg Hunt in the Library Garden

When: March 29th at 9:00 AM
Where: Madison Library
Cost: FREE
Join us for a slew of stories full of bunnies followed by an Easter Egg Hunt (weather permitting) in the library’s Children’s Garden. Preschoolers and their parents should bring their baskets and cameras for a fun time! Call Maggie at 256-461-0046 or email for more details.

6th Annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt

When: March 29, 7:30PM
Where: Palmer Park, Madison

The Hunt (for children ages 5-12) will take place at Palmer Park Westco Soccer Fields. Gates will open at 7:30 PM with the Egg Hunt starting at Dusk. Children will need to bring a Flashlight and something to collect and keep the eggs in that they find. The Easter Bunny will be available for Pictures following the Easter Egg Hunt. PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE FIELDS DURING THE EGG HUNT.

Bunny Bonanza

When: March 30, 2013
Where: Huntsville Botanical Garden

Over 10,000 eggs will be waiting to be found on the Garden grounds. There will be games, refreshments, and the Easter Bunny for little ones to enjoy. Steve Metz from Metropolitan DJ will also be here entertaining the crowds. We’ll also have our Easter Bonnet Parade so start designing those fun, crazy, or just adorable Easter bonnets! Don’t miss the fun!
Bunny Bonanza is a members-only event, with a price of $5 per person. Due to the popularity of the event, we are offering tickets in advance beginning in March which can be purchased in the Garden gift shop or on-line. If you wish to bring non-member guests, regular Garden admission applies in addition to the $5 Bunny Bonanza ticket. Please see the egg hunt schedule below and plan to arrive well in advance of the scheduled times with your Garden membership card in hand.

Egg hunt schedule:

  • 2 years old and younger, 10:15 a.m. in the Children’s Garden (pink flags)
  • 3 to 4 year-olds, 10:45 a.m., Special Events Meadow (blue flags)
  • 5 to 6 year-olds, 11:15 a.m., Special Events Meadow (purple flags)
  • 7 years old and up, 11:45 a.m., Special Events Meadow (yellow flags)

Tickets purchased online after March 15th will have to picked up at the front desk of the Visitor’s Center and names will be placed on a check list.

Dublin Park 16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt

When: March 30, 9:30 AM
Where: Dublin Park Soccer Field in Madison

This annual Madison tradition is for children ages 0 – 5 years of age. Gates will open at 9:30 am with the Egg Hunt starting at 10:00 AM. Children will need to bring something to collect and keep the eggs in that they find Easter Egg Hunt is Sponsored by the City of Madison. The Easter Bunny will be available for Pictures following the Easter Egg Hunt.

World’s Largest Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

When: Saturday, March 30 from 10:00 – 11:30 AM
Where: The Master’s Way, 29768 Huntsville Brownsferry Rd

The Master’s Way UMC will be holding a Neighborhood Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30th. Activities will be held from 10:00-11:30 am. Registration will begin at 9:45 am, and activities including an egg hunt, crafts, movie, story and snack will continue through to 11:30 am for children ages toddler through sixth grade. Spring Science

Celebrate the holiday with fun spring experiments at Sci-Quest! Come join us as we hop into some sweet Easter-themed science activities. Visitors will learn how to perform magic tricks with eggs, stage a battle with Peeps in the microwave, and meet our hissing cockroaches!

Humpty Dumpty’s “Eggstra” Special Celebration

Meet all of Humpty Dumpty’s friends and play a life-size Whimsical Woods game to explore the spring surprises that await you in the historic park. We will still have traditional Easter eggs, so bring your Easter basket. However, instead of the usual egg hunt, you will collect eggs and treats from friendly, strolling characters as you wind your way through mounds of merriment in our Whimsical Woods. On top of ALL this fun, enjoy face painting, balloon animals, and interactive puppet shows in the park.

The Great Easter Egg Hunt in Big Spring Park

Bring the whole family to the 11th Annual Great Easter Egg Hunt 2013. 15,000 eggs. Prize eggs. Prizes. Easter Bunny. Three age groups 2-4; 5-8; 9-12 and a hunt for special needs children.

Peter Cottontail Express

When: March 30, Trains depart at 10 and 11AM and 1, 2, and 3PM
Where: North Alabama Railroad Museum
Cost: $12 for all passengers

The children get to visit with Peter Cottontail and his helpers and parents will be able to take their picture together before they get on the train or while they are on the train. All the youngsters will get a special treat from Peter Cottontail before the day is done. These leisurely rides last approximately forty minutes. Call (256) 851-NARM for more information.
